Blanket Stitch Throw

January 13, 2017

After celebrating the New Year I discovered Audible *amazing* I’ve listened to so many books and finished a few projects I’ve left unfinished for so long. Seriously, in one week I finished this throw, the Herringbone Knit Throw, and several embroidered tea towels. Not even kidding.

Okay let’s talk about the Blanket Stitch.

The Blanket Stitch is so easy. There’s no need to count your stitches after each row which is pretty amazing in my book. I’ve crocheted blankets before that have began a certain length and then narrowed for lack of counting stitches. Its THE worst.

If you aren’t in the mood for crocheting a granny square blanket (tutorial here) then I would suggest the Blanket Stitch. The pattern works in threes: single crochet, double crochet + double crochet. All stitches in the same stitch. Crochet Spot has a great tutorial with pictures! I used Vanna’s Choice mustard yarn and decided to make a throw.

I finished this blanket using a Wave border, watching a tutorial on YouTube is so much easier than reading a pattern. **I did adjust the wave pattern a little, instead of lower double crochets, I single crocheted, then for the wave I doubled crocheted.** It’s pretty easy, but this border ate a lot of yarn and it’s time consuming. With that said I really love the way it looks, so I think it was worth it!

I love this color, and the border is so pretty! The tutorials give me renewed hope that maybe I can learn to crochet, I will have to check them out!
