Mustard + Red

Dress: Handmade by me // Tights: Target // Shoes: Forever 21 // Purse: Vintage // Jacket: Macy’s // Scarf: thrifted

Mustard + Red — probably my favourite colour combination. As soon as I saw this fabric in the store I knew it was destined to be a dress and to be paired with red. Lately, I’ve had the bug for sewing more dresses… and seeing this picture makes it impossible to think about anything else. On that note, I’ll say this: I never thought I would EVER be able to sew clothes. There was a time when a sewing machine terrified me. If you are interested in sewing, take my advice and sew! Just sew. It’s sort of like learning a new language; you can learn grammar for years, but you won’t be able to speak the language until you start speaking it.

If you want to sew, start sewing!

Cheers!

That’s good advice. I think I’m the same way I’m always so scared of sewing clothes because it’s so intimidating, but I think you’re right, it’s just about practice!

    • Absolutely! I still get a worried that I will screw something up, but then I realise I’ll never know unless I give it a try!

I totally love that fabric. I know that when I started sewing as an adult I would just eyeball it and not bother with the instructions. Now, I look them over several time and notice that the garment comes out looking more finished. I’ve been wanting to make more dresses but it’s getting cold out and I don’t have any thick stocking to cover my legs. So I may make them but not wear them out til Spring.

    • Thank you! I know, it’s getting cold here too! But I can’t help myself, I have to wear a dress!

That is good advice. I have always been nervous about sewing. I was horrible at it in middle school home ec.

    • I was horrible in high school, I gave up. I’m actually really new to sewing, and I’m really enjoying it!
