a few photo’s from last week

my mom surprised me with new coins.

there was so much, but here are a few! five 100% silver half dollars from 1964 and a 1853 dime. i’m pretty excited about my new additions!

i recently discovered knitting.

can you handle all this cuteness?

handwriting.

i’ve been studying handwriting styles and analysis lately. it’s really interesting. i’ll share what i’ve learned soon!

stephen and i had sushi for st. patricks day! yum.

i’m currently reading the chronicles of narnia. it is amazing.

this is 2007 amber. i recently discovered some old photo’s from my trip to china thanks to stephen!

how adorable is this child?! for real. i miss him and china!

i love the smell of fresh fabric.

 ten hours later…

just kidding, it wasn’t ten hours… but it felt like it!

mostly because i spent the previous night in a little french bakery called amelie’s. it’s open twenty-four/seven, so spontaneousness found me at ten pm and it left me the next morning at six am, when i was dragging my feet through the front door.

amelie’s is always a good idea and a good time. hot chocolate, a large french press and endless creativity! dragging my feet through the front door was a happy drag; it was worth it :)

I should have been exhausted, but I found myself the next day in the mood for sewing and this skirt magically appeared!

shoes: dsw // magic skirt: made by yours truly // blouse: target // cardigan: forever 21 // bow belt: charming charlie // vintage purse: thrifted

i am, by nature, not a spontaneous person, but im learning to embrace it.

it’s too much fun to pass up!

a month ago a sweet reader emailed me and asked if she could mail me some vintage clothes. i was so excited and honored that she would be so kind and think of me! i mean, seriously, how sweet!? through a few emails we also discovered that our husbands are programers! her name is danielle and she blogs at thrifty craft’in mama! her blog is packed with inspiring ideas and crafts!

shirt and skirt: a gift from danielle // vintage purse: thrifted // t-strap wedges: rugged wearhouse

a little kindness goes along way. there hasn’t been a day that i haven’t opened my closet and seen these clothes and remembered how incredibly sweet she was!

i’ve found a new snack recently. i love these chewy granola bars from Make and Takes! oh my are they ever yummy. it was hard to allow the bars the time to set completely, so i suggest eating something before you make them!

here’s what you need:

  • 2 1/2 cup quick rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup rice krispies
  • 1/4 cup coconut
  • 1/2 cup chocolate mini m&m’s (i used the regular size)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (i didn’t add this & they still were really good!)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

method:

mix all of the ingredients together, then press into a square 8×8 pan. bake at 350° for 18-20 minutes. this is the important part: let cool for 10 minutes! make sure the granola sets completely and then you can cut into bars. she said they seem to set better in the 9×13 pan. for more ideas for toppings, visit Make and Takes mini chip granola bars recipe!

enjoy! i know i will ;)

cheers,
