A poolside companion, a beach necessity, a party pleaser. Simple to make, easy to drink and often misunderstood. The daiquiri is a classic with no room for improvement.
2 fl oz Bacardi Gold Rum
¾ fl oz lime
½ fl oz simple syrup
Shake well with ice, strain into a coupe glass, and garnish with a twist.
Beware ordering this delicious drink while you are out because the daiquiri is commonly misunderstood in the wild. Your bartender may inappropriately commiserate you and assume you just arrived from the drink menu at Applebees or they’ll think it’s your birthday, or possibly both. You’ll have to watch as they side-eye liquor.com, spin around with newfound creative license, and fool around with previously used fruit behind the bar. Don’t let that happen to you.
Best make these at home and share them with close friends. Make two at a time because as soon as you’re finished you’ll want to reach for another.
Disclaimer: if you do order a daiquiri out and your bartender doesn’t clarify what you’d like then your drink will dispense from an agitated gas station slushy maker and will be called “frozen”, or you’ll be told they don’t have that machine. If you press them, they may tell you they don’t have any grapefruit. Tell them you don’t want a Hemingway Daiquiri, and they may give you what you want. After all of that interaction then they’ll think you’re a ‘girl’ for ordering a classic daiquiri.
I love girly drinks.

I had no idea about the difference in Daiquiris! I’ve always written them off as nasty sugar drinks but this looks amazing.

Bravo! So good. Thank you for posting the Daiquiri recipe, Stephen! I can relate to all of these scenarios! Especially, “…then your drink will dispense from an agitated gas station slushy maker and will be called “frozen”…”
…And I know what you mean, McKenna—I’m not a fan of sugary drinks either, but the citrus in a classic Daiquiri is well-balanced! You’ll have to come over and we’ll make both you and Zack one!
