Christmas is around the corner so I thought I would share a simple and quick gift idea. It’s called the Seed Stitch and if you know how to knit and purl you can make it quickly. I’m using size 15 knitting needles and chunky yarn —simply cast on 24 and knit one and then purl one every other stitch. It’s that simple!
Below I’ve pointed out what the different stitches look like in case you get confused —like me! The Purl stitch looks like a piece of yarn is horizontal right below the needle. The Knit stitch looks like there’s a V under the needle.
I think this scarf would make a lovely gift! The Seed Stitch has a lot of texture and it’s very warm, perfect for winter. If you have any questions comment below and I will try to answer as best as I can :)
Merry Christmas!

Hi Amber,
This is lovely.
I actually saw this type of stitch on Instagram and I wondered what it was.
It is quite similar to the moss stitch which I am currently practicing, with the hope to make a scarf just like this.
This is the next stitch I am going to try so thank you for the helpful post.
Take care
Katrina xx

Hey Katrina, I’m so glad you like it! I want to learn the moss stitch, perhaps you can teach me?
