I’m ashamed to say I haven’t read anything by Virgil—I’m sure that’s a literary sin, right? Dante would be appalled. The atmosphere in our apartment is dismal thanks to constant rain fall; I’m guessing it’s the perfect Virgil day. I would only know from quotes I’ve read by him—he’s exceptionally quotable. Here are a few of my favorites:
No day shall erase you from the memory of time.⠀
Fléctere si néqueo súperos Acheronta movebo – If I cannot move heaven, I will raise hell. // The Aeneid
Death twitches my ear;
‘Live,’ he says…
‘I’m coming.The gates of hell are open night and day;
Smooth the descent, and easy is the way:
But to return, and view the cheerful skies,
In this the task and mighty labor lies. // The Aeneid⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀
Also, I’d like to believe Virgil would approve of Manchester Orchestra—these songs have been on repeat—the perfect moody background music.
